Why: Overall, it was really well-done and really well-acted. I found the acting on both sides (Donnie Yen and Michelle Yeoh) to be really compelling. The story was great and told with a lot of tension. The plot was well-developed, and it was easy to tell who was good and who was bad. The acting was realistic and natural, which I always like to see in this kind of movie.
One of the things that I really liked about this movie was that the story was not full of action and explosions. It was more of a slow, drawn-out suspense thriller with a few gunfights sprinkled in. In some ways, it was reminiscent of the ’80’s/’90’s period crime films that weren’t “Die Hard” or “Lethal Weapon.”
Plot:
Two detectives who are in over their heads in difficulty and in each other’s faces as they strive to stop a drug-trafficking ring with worldwide links to organized crime. However, in the midst of their inquiry, Luk Wan-Ting, an innocent immigrant dock worker, becomes entangled when he witnesses the death of an intelligence officer and is falsely accused.
Luk has no alternative but to return to Hong Kong till the heat subsides after fleeing police prison and his companion is brutally murdered by hired assassins in quest of a film negative that Luk misplaced. With the help of Captain Michael, Donny and Penny Yeung are summoned to extradite him. Penny believes Luk is innocent and does everything she can to aid him, whilst Donny, who is suspicious of Luk’s innocence, feels he is guilty and does everything he can to put him in handcuffs.
As the two continue their research, they realize that the drug cartel may have ties to renegade C.I.A. operatives, who may have someone in the police force keeping an eye on them.

Why: A very fun and energetic martial arts movie, that may be very hard to get into as it is a very fast-paced movie. I did not see the movie until a year or so after it came out, as it was on VHS in my local video store.
This was one of the last female martial arts movies made for several years, and the movie was directed by none other than the King of Martial Arts himself, Jackie Chan. It was a pleasant surprise when he was approached with the idea of doing the film, as he hadn’t really shown interest in American films for some time. Although he was quite happy to be back in the States and working with an American crew.
For the most part, the movie is a pure action piece. It’s not a story that tries to tell us much. It has a couple of scenes of a bit of comedy, but otherwise, the movie isone of the pure female martial arts movies. There is a scene that makes an attempt at the ‘origin’ story, but it doesn’t go too well.
Plot: Tiger Claws III is a 2000 action-adventure film that is the third installment in the Tiger Claws series. The film was directed by Robert Rodriguez and stars Dolph Lundgren, who also co-wrote the screenplay. The film follows the events of Tiger Claws II as well as the first Tiger Claws film.
The plot begins with a group of mercenaries led by Major Boudreau (Dolph Lundgren) and his team being ambushed by a gang of thugs in the middle of the desert. The bandits have captured several of the mercenaries and are holding them hostage. One of the bandits, however, is a young girl named Zoya (Nastassja Kinski), who has been captured by the mercenaries after she was kidnapped by the bandit leader, Yanko (Rade Šerbedžija).
After being captured by the mercenaries, Zoya escapes from her captors and flees into the desert. She is pursued by the mercenaries, who decide to take her back to the bandits so that they can force her to help them find their lost comrades. However, once they arrive at the camp, Zoya refuses to help them and instead attempts to escape.
6. Reign of Assassins (2010)

Why: Excellent wuxia pan, with Yeoh in peak form both in terms of acting and weaponry. It was wonderful to see pan-Asian casting done for specific roles and acting talent, rather than for obvious stereotypes. Perhaps more than Jung, Wang Xueqi anchors the picture alongside Yeoh, although the villains are given gradation and a more nuanced reason and arc than one frequently sees in action films.
With a lot of discontinuous photography and freeze-frames on certain actors, the first introduction section turned me off. Fortunately, this device does not appear again or is unique. The string accompaniment to the more precisely danced portions works nicely with Kam’s composition, which is more subtle than usual.
Leon Dai’s assassin has a Taoist Magician’s style and name, which at first appears to be overly light. However, this rapidly changed, and while he added a lot of color to later scenes, the general tone was still appropriate. This is a film that I strongly suggest. Don’t be fooled by the fairly predictable and perplexing introduction. It’s excellent.
Plot: Su Chao-pin and John Woo co-directed Reign of Assassins, a 2010 wuxia film co-directed by John Woo and directed by Su Chao-pin. The movie is set in China during the Ming Dynasty and was shot there. Michelle Yeoh plays an assassin who, after being advised by a monk, wants to return to regular life.
She catches the attention of her previous assassin squad after defending her spouse and herself from thieves. The film was shot in China and Taiwan and began shooting on October 30. While filming, John Woo was often on-set coaching director Su Chao-pin, earning him the title of co-director.
Reign of Assassins premiered on September 3, 2010, at the 67th Venice Film Festival, where it received critical praise. It debuted in China on September 28, 2010, and The Weinstein Company acquired North American distribution rights, while Lionsgate acquired UK distribution rights.
5. So Close (2002)- Female martial arts movies

Why: So Close was the film that first piqued my interest in international filmmaking. First and foremost, the photography in this female martial arts movies is stunning, highlighting the stunning individuals who populate the screen. All of the props are fashionable, and the setting has been carefully designed to highlight the attractiveness of the females executing the activity. While a two-girl assassin squad may sound like a possibility for a campy eye-candy action drama, this really well-crafted film is devoid of cheese. Even Hollywood would be envious of such beautiful women executing high-octane stunts as those seen in this film.
The film improves as it proceeds through the plot, culminating in a showdown between the Master (Yasuaki Kurata), Sue (Wei Zhao), and Hong (Hong Kong) at the end (Karen Mok).
Wei Zhao, Qi Shu, and Karen Mok play assassins, with Karen Mok as the investigator on their trail. They all look fantastic in this film, with camera angles designed to emphasize their attractiveness. If at all possible, avoid watching the English dubbed version. To get the most out of it, watch it in Mandarin or Cantonese.
Plot: The large computer corporation owned by the brother’s Chow Nunn and Chow Lui is in the midst of a terrible crisis: a dangerous computer virus is swiftly wiping out their network. A cyber-friend comes at the last minute to join the battle. The enigmatic ‘Angel.com’ defeats the malware and rescues the business.
Angel.com, who has been invited by Chow Lui to pay him a personal visit, appears in the shape of the lovely Lynn. Lynn, on the other hand, turns out to be a skilled assassin with incredible high-tech and kung fu talents. She uses cyanide secreted in a pair of sunglasses to assassinate Chow Lui. Sue, who runs the pair’s Globe Panorama surveillance system, which allows them to tap into any video security system in the world, assists her.
Kong Yat Hong, a young officer, and her partner Mark are assigned to the case. Hong has a sharp intellect and instantly recognizes that she is dealing with a serial murderer with unique abilities. Lynn and Sue grow enamored with Hong after realizing they are up against a formidable foe. Lynn meets Yan, the cousin of a deceased old friend. Lynn and Yan had an unspoken love in the past that is now reignited in the open, and Lynn begins to wonder if she really wants to be an assassin anymore.
4. Geisha Assassin (2008)

Why: Go Ohara, who directed the action in Death Trance and Onechanbara The Movie, is an action director. The motion is similar to that of a Japanese wire-fu. Many flying ninjas are launching smoke bombs, as well as a fierce monk, a Japanese barbarian, and another monk who utilized magic to contact demons!! Wow, what a performance. Japanese B-Movies are amusing and enjoyable. Sword battles, punching, kicking, crushing, and smacking abound. The plot is simple: a geisha wants vengeance for her father’s murder.
By assassinating the murderer. I didn’t get what he was saying when he said he killed her father. However, I saw the parent who started the argument in the movie. The acting, on the other hand, was a little…..okay, good. The direction is straightforward. The environment is lovely and relaxing. Especially at the beginning of the female martial arts movies, when the Geisha go around Edo at night.
It’s lovely. Overall, things are looking up. So many things will be expected of you. Have I ever thought a movie was boring? No. That’s all I have to say about it, and that’s its end. Well, I don’t want to give anything away about the finish, but you might be surprised. But not a significant one.
Plot: This narrative takes place in Japan during the Edo period. Kotono faces the samurais who slaughtered her father on a rainy night. One by one, the samurai assault her, but she is able to keep them at bay. As she is scaring the last samurai away, three ninjas appear out of nowhere.
Kotono is a geisha, which means that she is a prostitute. She is a beautiful woman and is known for her charm and her skills. She is a skilled assassin as well. Kotono is a very attractive woman. She is young and has long black hair. She wears a kimono and has a pair of wooden sandals. She also wears a mask with a cat’s face.
She uses her ninja skills to kill all three ninjas with a single blow. She then sets her sights on the two remaining samurai. However, the remaining samurai is no match for her. She kills him with ease. The story ends as she takes the two samurai’s swords and stabs the other samurai in the stomach.
3. Ghost in the Shell (2017)

Why: It was an excellent film; it wasn’t quite as good as the original Ghost in the Shell film from 1995, but the standard is so high that only a few films would meet it. Scarlett Johansson was almost excellent in the character; her main flaw was that she lacked the original film’s “Dirty Harry” bravado. However, she was only starting her career in these female martial arts movies, whereas she was an old-timer towards the end of her career in the 1995 film, so that may be explained.
“Ghost in the Shell” was a film that I truly appreciated for its visual aesthetic, thought-provoking premise, and, above all, Scarlett Johansson’s performance. Her presence as a movie star transcends the character and the film. I read and heard about the “whitewashing” that occurred when Scarlett was cast as the Major instead of a Japanese actress. Johansson is incredible. The Major’s personality is more mechanical than human.
“The Ghost in the Shell” is a film concerning the soul’s nature. The form of your eyes may have little bearing on the quality of your soul. As a Japanese American movie buff, I can attest to this. This is very obvious in “Ghost in the Shell’s” poignant epilogue. “Ghost in the Shell” is both unexpected and satisfying.
Plot: Human organs will be upgraded in the near future thanks to cybernetics technology produced by Cutter’s strong Hanka Robotics Corporation. Dr. Ouelet is in charge of developing Project 2571, a whole mechanical body that can be attached to a human brain. She creates a prototype based on the brain of a young woman who lost her parents in a cyber assault.
One year later, the lady is a Major and works alongside agents Batou and Togusa in Section 9, a counter-terrorist section led by Chief Daisuke Aramaki. The girl is named The Major. Her mission is to protect the city from cyber terrorists. She is a cyborg.
The Major is equipped with a new body called the “S-model” that has a powerful CPU, a new bionic eye, and an artificial intelligence chip. She requires medication to help her brain integrate with her mechanical body, and she has no memory of her prior existence.

The scenery appears to be from Australia, and it is stunning.
They did a fantastic job casting this film. An endless procession of action and romance is created by a large number of good-looking athletic performers. This film is one of the better female martial arts movies to come out in recent years. It’s like watching Bay Watch and a kung-fu movie rolled into one, with women fighting better than men in this film.
If this is the path that Australian films are pursuing, they have a bright future ahead of them. I hope they continue to experiment with this genre of an action film.
Plot: DOA, an invitational martial arts competition, has invited a number of fighters. They fly to the tournament island, where they must jump out of the plane with parachutes in mid-flight, and then have until dark to reach the main island and be entered into the tournament.
The fighters are then pitted against one another in a knockout tournament, with the loser of each round being eliminated and the winner moving on to the next round. The plot centers around four female combatants who start out as rivals but end up collaborating against another force.

Why: This is a very enjoyable Kung Fu flick, with tons of violence and lots of character development, with the cast being quite good. The story is simple and straightforward, but it doesn’t fall into the usual traps that a story of this type usually falls into, which is good.
The fight scenes, as you’d expect, are incredibly choreographed and executed perfectly. They’re not exactly spectacular but they are really well done. Also, the choreography in general is surprisingly good.
A good female martial arts movie, and it’s one of the most intense movies I’ve seen in a while. It also stands out from most movies of its type as it has a great story. It really was the perfect storm of a good script, martial arts movie, and action flick.
The acting was great and the fights were incredible and some of the stunts could even have been in a movie that has been made recently. The only thing that I wish was better was the CGI, but that could also have been because of the time it was made in.
Plot: The Governor summons Gold Lion, the chief of Lion’s tribe, to Jungle Community to protect the gold that would be brought through the village. The greedy Silver and Bronze Lions, on the other hand, betray him and slay him. Zen Yi, dubbed The X-Blade, the favorite son of Gold Lion, seeks vengeance and travels to Jungle Village, but is defeated by Brass Body and rescued by Thaddeus, the village blacksmith.
Meanwhile, the Gemini Female and Male defend the Governor’s gold, but the Silver and Bronze Lion’s Warriors beat them. The Lions kidnap the Blacksmith, who has Brass Body amputated in his arms. However, the Emperor’s agent, British Jack Knife, saves him by creating iron weapons for Thaddeus.
Meanwhile, the Governor dispatches the Jackal army to attack the Lions, while the wealth is hidden in Madam Blossom’s brothel. Madam Blossom and her daughters, on the other hand, assemble a black widow army and fight the Lions with Jack, Zen Yi, and The Blacksmith.
