Early Life and Career of Atsushi Sakurai:

The late singer Atsushi Sakurai was born in Fujioka, Gunma, Japan, in 1966. He had one brother. Atsushi revealed little about his family life, so we don’t know about his father’s or mother’s name or profession. But one time, Atsushi said that his father was an alcoholic and that Atsushi’s birthday was on the same day as his father’s. He also said that people used to tell him that he looked like his father because they were both lean and smart in physique.

When he was in fifth grade, he bought Shinji Harada’s Feel Happy album for the very first time. Atsushi was fascinated by Harada’s unique style of singing and fashion. Once someone gave Atsushi an acoustic guitar, but he was not very into the guitar, so after having the guitar for a week, he decided to give it up. He always loved music but never thought of becoming a musician one day. 

Atsushi studied at Gunma Kenritsu Fujioka High School. During his school life, he used to hang out with the wrong company. His friends were mostly from outside of school because he never liked his classmates.

Things took a positive turn when Atsushi Sakurai was in his third year of college and became friends with one of his classmates, Hisashi Shimai. Atsushi’s friend recommended him punk rock music. They started listening to music together and often shared their thoughts about launching a boy band.

A few years later, he started his career as a drummer in a boyband named Buck-Tick. Atsushi said that he joined the band because he didn’t know what to do in life, and he considered this to be one of the worst times of his life.

He was a handsome young man in his early 20s. Atsushi had long black hair and brown eyes. He had a lean physique; his height was 5 feet 10 inches, and his weight was not known. Atsushi Sakurai: Illness and Death

In 2018, the boyband Buck-Tick had to perform at Zepp Divercity. Atsushi’s fellow members started noticing that he was not well and told him to go to the hospital, but Atsushi refused to go and told them that he would go after finishing the concert. After the performance, his members took him to the hospital, and the doctors diagnosed him with gastrointestinal bleeding. The band had to cancel all other shows for Atsushi’s treatment.

In 2023, Atsushi’s band Buck-Tick was preparing for their concert at Zepp Yokohama, and they also decided to perform their album IZORA’s song on the tour. Unfortunately, due to Atsushi’s alarming health condition, the band had to cancel their performance and all their other shows as well. The band members said that Atsushi was giving a response when they were taking him to the hospital. 

Sadly, the singer died on that exact day due to a brainstem hemorrhage. Atsushi was 57 years old at the time of his death. Atsushi Sakurai death was announced on October 24, 2023.
